Ballet Tech’s school, first known as The New Ballet School, has offered tuition-free dance instruction to NYC public school children since 1978 and boasts an alumni network that spans generations.
In addition to performing with Ballet Tech, alumni have joined such preeminent companies as Abraham.In.Motion, Alvin Ailey, American Ballet Theatre, Cedar Lake Dance Ensemble, Charlotte Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Limón Dance Company, Martha Graham Dance Company, New York City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and on Broadway, and have pursued higher education at colleges and universities including Brandeis, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Juilliard, NYU, Yale and SUNY Purchase.
To continue building upon students’ dance training after their enrollment, Ballet Tech offers free dance classes, performance opportunities, and other forms of professional development to all former students. Many alumni have also returned to Ballet Tech as dance class assistants, faculty members, board members, and full-time staff.

Alumni Audition Opportunity
We are pleased to announce an audition opportunity for Ballet Tech alumni to perform in Kids Dance 2025. Learn more.
Alumni Classes
Ballet Tech is offering free dance classes for our alumni on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5pm – 6:30pm.
The only requirement to register for these classes is that you attended Ballet Tech at some point during your dance training. Each class will be taught by one of our current faculty members. Please bring your own dancewear.
Please follow the steps below to participate:
Step 1: Fill out and sign our one-time waiver and release form. If you are under the age of 18, this form must be signed by a parent or a guardian. (If we already have a waiver on file for you, then you can skip this step.)
STEP 2: Sign up for the class you wish to take by filling out one of the RSVP’s below.
Registration closes the evening before the day of each class at 10pm. Please keep in mind that each class will be capped at 25 dancers. Since space is limited, please only sign up for the classes that you are sure you are able to attend.
If a class has a low enrollment number, it will be canceled and a notification will be sent out the morning of the day of the class.
