We believe inthe unique potentialof all students

Elementary School Admissions
Most students who enroll in The NYC Public School for Dance first participate in Ballet Tech Across New York (BTANY) and the Introduction to Ballet Program. However, students may also audition directly for the school by signing up for one of our “open auditions.” All applicants must be residents of New York City.
Open Auditions
Ballet Tech holds open auditions for incoming Elementary School students (i.e. students currently enrolled in the 3rd or 4th grade.) The audition consists of a 45-minute ballet class, and no prior experience is required to register. Click “Learn More” below to register.
Ballet Tech Across New York (BTANY)
Teaching artists from Ballet Tech travel to public elementary schools across NYC to introduce 2nd and 3rd graders to the basic tenets of ballet. Students who demonstrate a strong aptitude and enthusiasm for dance in these classes are invited to participate in the Introduction to Ballet Program.
Introduction To Ballet Program
Students who excel in the BTANY classes are invited to attend a 6-week ongoing field trip to Ballet Tech for introductory ballet classes. Students who continue to demonstrate a strong aptitude and enthusiasm for dance throughout this program have an opportunity to audition for Ballet Tech’s full-time school.
Middle School Admissions
Middle School (6th Grade Auditions)
All NYC 5th graders are eligible to audition for Ballet Tech’s Middle School via the NYC Department of Education’s Middle School Process. Please note: enrollment priority is given to continuing Ballet Tech Students.
Institutional Support Learning
Ballet Tech is proud to provide an inclusive educational program for eligible students with disabilities.
Students who are interested in pursuing a challenging program of pre-conservatory dance training and rigorous academic courses, while having access to Instructional Support Services (ISS), will find that our team works closely with parents throughout the child’s time at Ballet Tech to ensure student needs are met and that they are on track to successfully graduate and attend competitive high schools.
Through services such as Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) services and related services, we embed specially designed instruction and individualized support into our curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners. Students who are looking for a pre-conservatory dance program and a rigorous academic curriculum and require accommodations, related services, special classroom support(s) or assistive technology, and have unique management needs as outlined in their IEP, can apply to the school to receive individualized care from our team of Instructional Support Specialists. These supports are provided in our rigorous general education classes.
Ballet Tech is a fully accessible building.
