In addition to the full-time school for students in grades 4-8, Ballet Tech provides a dynamic and enriching environment for younger and older dancers to thrive and excel.

Ballet Tech Across New York

Ballet Tech Foundation provides free dance enrichment classes to public elementary schools with its Ballet Tech Across New York (BTANY) program.

For BTANY, Ballet Tech sends a teaching artist team to partnering schools for 1 or 2 days. The program is tailored to 2nd or 3rd grade students of all abilities. Schools have two BTANY course offerings that they can choose from – Dance for EveryBODY or BT Ballet Basics.

Students who demonstrate a strong aptitude and enthusiasm for dance in the BTANY classes are invited to participate in Ballet Tech’s Introduction to Ballet Program.

Introduction to Ballet Program

Students who demonstrate a strong aptitude and enthusiasm for dance in Ballet Tech’s BTANY classes are invited to participate in the Introduction to Ballet Program, a 6-week ongoing field trip. The Introduction to Ballet Program has been running for over 4 decades!

Elementary schools escort their invited students to Ballet Tech one morning each week to study ballet at our studios. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of ballet, including basic steps, ballet vocabulary, class structure, discipline, and appropriate dance attire (which Ballet Tech provides). Students who continue to demonstrate a strong aptitude and enthusiasm for dance throughout this program may be considered as candidates for Ballet Tech’s full-time school.

Alumni Program

Ballet Tech’s school, first known as The New Ballet School, has offered tuition-free dance instruction to NYC public school children since 1978 and boasts an alumni network that spans generations. Ballet Tech offers free dance classes, performance opportunities, and other forms of professional development to all former students. Many alumni have also returned to Ballet Tech as dance class assistants, faculty members, board members, and full-time staff.

Kids Dance

Kids Dance is Ballet Tech’s student performance troupe. Performing annually at The Joyce Theater since 1994, Kids Dance provides students with the opportunity to learn choreography and develop performance skills, activities that are essential to the development of a professional dancer. Students present past dances choreographed by Ballet Tech founder Eliot Feld as well as new choreography created for them by Ballet Tech faculty members and guest artists.
